Alfonso Quaron’s ‘Roma’ has raked most nominations at 2019 Platino Awards.
The Spanish speaking biopic has topped 9 nominations in different categories at the latest edition of Platino Awards which is known as Premios Platino del Cine Iberoamericano. The event is the biggest award ceremony among the Latin American countries.
The specific categories ‘Roma’ has won nom in are Best Sound, Editing, Actress, Supporting Actress, Film, Director, Screenplay, Cinematography and Art Direction.
The film is a semi-autobiographical that narrates the director’s upbringing in Mexico City. The film also follows the lives of a big house residents in Colonia Roma neighborhood. It shows how their lives are tied together by the miseries- all the heartbreaks and betrayals- they must go through.
Quaron’s film has so far won several awards from other film events too. It was rewarded with the Best Director of a Motion Picture and the Best Foreign Language Film awards at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards.
It also won Best Foreign Language Film and Best Picture awards at the latest edition of Academy Awards.
Platino Awards ceremony is slated for May 12, 2019 in Mexico City.
